Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 16, 2026
Contrast Scout (“the app”) is a camera-assisted color contrast notebook for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
Summary
Contrast Scout does not create accounts, does not upload photos, and does not sell or share personal data. Color sampling happens on your device.
Camera
If you allow camera access, Contrast Scout uses the camera only to sample colors from physical materials such as labels, thread, paint, and signage. Live frames are processed on your iPhone or iPad to estimate a color near the viewfinder. The app does not record video to iCloud, does not send camera frames to a server, and does not use the camera for advertising or analytics.
You can refuse camera permission and still sample colors from a photo you choose or from the on-device color picker.
Photos
If you pick a photo, Contrast Scout reads color values from that image on your device. The photo is not uploaded.
Saved swatches
Colors you save stay in local storage on your device (SwiftData). They are not synced by Contrast Scout to a developer server. If you use iCloud Backup for your device, Apple may include app data in that backup under Apple’s terms.
Purchases
Scout Unlock is a one-time In-App Purchase processed by Apple. Apple handles payment, receipts, and restore. Contrast Scout does not receive your full payment card details.
Analytics, tracking, and advertising
Contrast Scout does not use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, or tracking. The app’s privacy nutrition labels report that no data is collected by the developer.
This website
This marketing, privacy, and support site is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process standard request logs (such as IP address, user agent, and URL) to operate the network. The site does not set advertising cookies.
Children
Contrast Scout is a general-audience workshop tool. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
